Camp description: \nGovernors\u2019 Ilmoran is for those who want that extra bit of luxury. \nThe camp comprises just 10 tents situated along the banks of the Mara River.<\/p>\n\n
This exclusive camp was formerly known as Paradise Camp and originally had 20 tents.<\/p>\n\n
The owner\u2019s decision to reduce the size of the new camp is in direct response to their desire to preserve the surroundings and make a contribution to reduce the impact of tourists on the environment. \nThis is probably the first time in the Mara that this has happened.<\/p>\n\n
Ilmoran is hidden in the shadow of ancient trees. <\/p>\n\n
The camp recreates the atmosphere of the original hunting camps.<\/p>\n\n
Each room is furnished to a superior standard. \nThe beds have been hand carved from specially selected wood from fallen, ancient olive trees.<\/p>\n\n
The interior of each tent also includes a Victorian style bath, flush toilet and double basins.<\/p>\n\n
Each tent has a large, extended verandah designed so you can take dinner in private at your tent if you wish.<\/p>\n\n
You will be the personal guest of manager, Patrick, who has a wealth of experience of the African bush.<\/p>\n\n
Game drives and game walks are included in the rate and complimentary wine is served with dinner.<\/p>\n\n
During the day, meals are served outdoors amongst the trees. For breakfast there are fresh fruits, cereals and hot-baked breads together with a full, cooked breakfast prepared before your eyes.<\/p>\n\n
For lunch, a buffet that will satisfy the hungriest appetites. In the evening guests can enjoy cordon-bleu dinners by candlelight, deep in the bush.<\/p>\n\n

The Masai Mara is a unique area with a constant and unrivalled flow of wildlife throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n
From July to October the Mara becomes a backdrop for one of the last great natural wonders of the world, when 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra surge up from the Serengeti plains in their annual search for the \nseasonal grasses that sustain them.<\/p>\n\n
The spectacle as the vast herds cross rivers and sweep through the golden grasses, is punctuated by individual struggles with the predators, which are in turn drawn to take their part in this dramatic event. Whilst the migration is spectacular, game viewing at all other times of the year remains almost unrivalled anywhere in Africa.<\/p>\n\n
Birds and butterflies abound, elephants wander through the camp at night, leopard\u2019s call nearby.<\/p>\n\n
Nowhere else can you get so far from civilisation, yet stay in such style.<\/p>\n\n
There are various activities on offer:<\/p>\n\n
game drives in open Landrovers, game walks or balloon flights over the wide plains of the Masai Mara.<\/p>\n\n
Day excursions to the Lake Victoria are also on offer. However, we recommend that you book this excursion well in advance and combine the Lake Victoria trip with an overnight stay at Mfangano Island Camp.<\/p>\n\n
All meals, drinks (except champagne and spirits), three game viewing excursions daily, game walks in high \nseason as well as laundry are included in our price.<\/p>\n\n
Park entrance fees and other activities (such as ballooning, Lake Victoria excursion, a visit to a Masai village) are to be paid separately.<\/p>\n\n
