MARA LEISURE CAMP

FACT SHEET

Introduction
As Simba proudly surveys his kingdom in his majestic glory, Ndovu leisurely chews on succulent tree
branches, his family close by. Not too far ahead, Nyati and his comrades graze on the lush Mara plains as
the lonesome and often ill-tempered Kifaru stomps along in solitude. And finally, the elusive Chui…
lounging above the ground on a lofty tree branch, on the lookout for his next meal.

Together, they make the Big 5. Known as such not for their size, but for the difficultly they presented
hunters who tried to capture them. And this is their home. The Masai Mara – Kenya’s finest game reserve –
gentle rolling grasslands teeming with a plethora of animals and bird life.

See Thomson and Grant Gazelles, Topi, Eland, Zebra, Waterbuck, Giraffe, Hippo, Wildebeest, Warthog, Crocodile, Ostrich, Vultures among others, and over 450 bird species, with over 50 birds of prey.

One thing is for sure… at the Masai Mara, you will experience nature in all its wild wonder!

Our accommodation facilities include 1 exclusive honeymoon tent, 8 spacious ‘jumbo’ tents, 17 standard
‘nyati’ tents and 3 family ‘jamii’ cottages.

With these, all social groups are adequately catered for.

For the discerning palate, we have expert chefs who deliver mouth watering 5 star cuisines for all three
meals of the day… Why not enjoy these in the bush for that ultimate experience?

Now that your comfort is taken care of, let us embark on a safari of a life time! Soak in the abundance of
untamed wilderness, fresh and natural scenery, filled with exotic wildlife during our expertly guided game
drives, enjoyed in open vehicles. These can be scheduled for morning, evening or full day.

For those interested in a more intimate encounter, we conduct a safe and exciting walking safari where you
have the chance to come face to face with nature’s beauty both in flora and fauna…

Should you feel the need for a break from the bush life, take a dip in the cool waters of our swimming pool
for that refreshing feeling.

As dusk rolls in, enjoy romantic evenings while you watch the sunset, sipping on cool drinks. Or get cozy
by the fireplace while taking pleasure in a sun downer cocktail of your choice, as you listen to the unique
sounds of nightfall in the African wilderness. Tip your head back and get mesmerized by the star studded
velvet skies above, in clarity rarely witnessed elsewhere… And as the evening draws to a close, allow
gentle warm breezes full of natures mystery lull you to sleep… the morning awaits!

The exclusiveness that you seek and deserve is our promise to You…

Sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are essential, as the sun in Kenya can be strong. Good insect repellents are
advised although the camp does provide. Binoculars and good cameras are an absolute must. Please don’t
forget to bring plenty of film and camera batteries, as local stocks are unpredictable.

Maasai Mara is host to the most spectacular array of wildlife. Her 1510 square kilometers of open
savannah, woodlands and tree-lined rivers creates an eco-system which supports huge numbers of bird and
mammal species. The acacia dotted plain creates scenery of stunning beauty. Lion are found in abundance
throughout the park as are elephant, giraffe, a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are
also regularly seen and, if lucky, you may also find rhino. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara, and
patience is often rewarded with unique sightings: a pride of lion stalking their prey; a solitary leopard
retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree; male wildebeest sparring to attract females into
their harem; or even a herd of elephant protecting their young from opportunistic predators.

The annual wildebeest migration traditionally is present in the Mara from July-October and at this time
nature’s dramas unfold before your very eyes at every turn. As well as wildlife, the Maasai Mara is also
home to many members of the colorful Maasai tribe who may be seen around the borders of the park –
morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree
discussing matters of the day.

For guests on the Full Game Package, two game viewing drives in open-topped 4WD vehicles are included
in the package, per day. The Camp also organizes fly in packages from Nairobi and Mombasa.
